Thoughts:

Mostly, I love social media. Being a naturally curious (voyeuristic, perhaps) person, it suits my sensibilities to see photos of people having a great time.

Occasionally, however, I do get a little holiday envy, particularly when I see young families enjoying wonderful overseas trips.

During the most recent school holidays, I was treated in my facebook feed to pictures of friends frolicking around Hawaii, Bali, London and Fiji.

My family stayed home.

But we had a wonderful time, just hanging around, going to movies and the playground.

Sometimes,  a ‘stay-cation’ can be the best kind of holiday, and that’s the message of Tilly’s At Home Holiday.

While Tilly is envious of her friends travelling to exotic locales, her mother manages to prove to her that, with a little imagination and creativity, you can travel wherever you want, without ever actually leaving home.

Gillian Hibbs’ illustrations are bright and simple, and contain some lovely touches of realia.
